We had a great Easter at Grandma Bear's house. It was our last day of calling her house, "home," at least for awhile anyway. ;) Little Bear approached his Easter basket in disbelief at first, but then smiled with great joy when he realized that all of its contents were for him.
Later that day--okay, right before bed--(only because his parents were late in hiding the eggs), Little Bear got to go on his first Easter Egg Hunt! We did it "Blomquist style," the way my mom, I mean the Easter Bunny, used to do it. We hid the eggs when he wasn't in the room (which in "Blomquist style" was always the living room, even if the weather was beautiful--I guess the Easter Bunny came down the chimney like Santa Claus?), and then we explained the game to him. He seemed to fully understand and was bubbling over with excitement as we counted down: "1, 2, 3, GO!!"
After we encouraged him that he would be able to open all of the eggs and look at them later, he raced around the room looking for every last egg. I, of course, hid them "Blomquist style," so they weren't really hidden but laid around the room. Little did I know that Little Bear was ready for a real hunt as he lifted up objects and peered under others looking for the "hidden" eggs. Too cute!
At the end of the hunt he got to open each egg to find quarters for his piggy bank. Putting money in piggy banks happens to be one of his FAVORITE things to do (smart, isn't he?) so he really enjoyed this part of his first Easter Egg Hunt. He got really upset, in true toddler form, when the game was over and it was bedtime but we assured him that we could repeat the evening again the next day and he reluctantly agreed.
This was the end of Easter Sunday for us, but for many it is the beginning of the SEASON of Easter so we still have a few more weeks to celebrate the Resurrection! We are celebrating every Sunday by indulging in the sweets that we aren't eating (for a healthier lifestyle) throughout the week. I think about Sundays in great anticipation ALL WEEK LONG now! :)
Because we did not get a chance to take a family Easter picture last week, we decided to do so on the Second Sunday in Easter. Thanks to Grandma Bear and a tripod, we took some great ones on Tinker Air Force Base, in front of our new home (more on that tomorrow)...
...and at the entrance to one of my favorite jogging/walking trails right next to our house. (Day 2 of jogging them and I am LOVING it! Thanks Tinker AFB!!!)
We have had such a beautiful Easter so far--the weather, the family time, the new home, hope for tomorrow, and joy in the Resurrection of Christ! Happy Easter! Alleluia! More tomorrow!
